A native of Chicago, Erik Wm. Suter enjoys an international career and served for ten years as organist at the Washington National Cathedral. He has won five first place awards in organ competitions around the world and his performances of the complete organ works of Maurice Duruflé have garnered high praise.

The MSO welcomes back favorite Guest Conductor Carl St. Clair for this concert, which opens with Beethoven’s exhilarating Egmont Overture. Young Norwegian trumpet soloist Tine Thing Helseth then commands the stage with Johann Hummel’s clever and beautiful Trumpet Concerto, before Strauss’ musical mountain climb, An Alpine Symphony, rounds off the program.

Wisconsin Young Artists Compete: The Final Forte is the final round of the Bolz Young Artist Competition in which the four finalists perform in a free concert with the MSO that is broadcast live by Wisconsin Public Radio and rebroadcast by Wisconsin Public Television.

Experience the talents of brilliant French pianist Philippe Bianconi as he joins the MSO and Conductor John DeMain as soloist in Rachmaninoff’s massive and virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 3. The program opens with Schumann’s dramatic and imaginative Manfred Overture, followed by Witold Lutosławski’s 1954 Concerto for Orchestra, inspired by Polish folk songs.
